Let me just start by saying that I am OBSESSED with this intimate and editorial maternity photoshoot! Haley came to be with SUCH a fun vision and I knew immediately we were going to vibe well. In her initial inquiry, she said “I am not really a standing in a field at sunset in a pretty dress type of gal” and I knew we were going to have a lot of fun with the session.
The Inspiration for this Editorial Maternity Photoshoot
The inspo photos she shared were so fun and editorial – definitely outside the norm of typical maternity photos. We pulled inspiration from funky editorial campaigns and Rhianna (who had just given her absolutely iconic Super Bowl performance). Nothing excites me more than when my clients want something super unique and different for their sessions. It really allows my creative juices to flow and challenges me in a way that I love so much!
We knew we wanted to keep the background simple and really play around with different poses to let the subject be the main focus, so we decided to put together a little studio set up in Haley’s living room. This was great because it allowed her to be super comfy in her own home, and we could take our time with the session.
Steamy At-Home Maternity Photos
We started off her session with some steamy maternity photos of her in some Calvin Kleins. This girl seriously knows how to show up in front of the camera. She looked absolutely stunning and I will never get over these photos.
Then Haley put on a badass black see-through mesh dress with black boots and it was sooo good. We played around with so many different poses and angles and it was just the best time! She has the coolest checkered black and white floors in her kitchen so you know we had to take some photos in there as well!
Studio sessions can sometimes be a little more tricky, because you don’t have very many elements to get inspired by, as opposed to when I’m shooting outside, I will get inspired by a certain patch of light, a cool street or wall, etc. But we put on a fun playlist, and took our time and I’m absolutely obsessed with the outcome of the photos. It was SO fun to get to capture some creative, editorial-style maternity photos.

Meet Your San Francisco Maternity Photographer
Hi there, I’m Meg, your San Francisco Engagement Photographer!
I’ve always wanted to be a photographer and to be able to call this my full-time job is an absolute dream come true. Creating captivating, authentic images just sets my soul on fire and I have so much gratitude for this art. I love capturing moments. I’m the girl who takes my film camera everywhere I go because I just want to look back and remember what I was feeling at that moment. I love being able to look at a photo and travel back in time.
Being a photographer has allowed me to find the moments of beauty in everyday life and there is nothing I love more than allowing people to see themselves as a piece of art.
