A Branding Shoot for Isabella + Amber

Ok first I’d like to start by saying you literally never need a reason to book a photoshoot. There are a million reasons to book a shoot. Maybe you just want to boost your confidence, maybe you want to get a lil’ creative, maybe you want to put yourself out of your comfort zone, maybe you just want some damn photos with the people you love!!!! Orrrrrr maybe you are starting a podcast with your bestie and you need branding pics for your launch!!!!

When I tell you I screamed when this inquiry hit my inbox….

Don’t get me wrong, I fucking loooove photographing couples and weddings but it was so much fun for me to get outside of my comfort zone and shoot somethin’ new with these cool girls.

We started the project like I start all my projects, with a zoom call to get to know each other a bit and dive into the vision. They were going for “casual, introspective, we’re a work in progress, but we’re having a good time” vibes. As soon as we got off the call I was flooded with ideas. The idea behind their podcast is “we’re just two friends casually having the conversations nobody wants to have”. Talking about the weird shit, the deep, sticky, wacky, personal stuff – but all while keeping it casual and not taking things too seriously.

I wanted the photos to feel like exactly that. I pulled together some props that I thought could help tell the story (and also help solve the problem of what to do with their hands) because we didn’t want this to end up looking like a couples session. So I went through my books and pulled out “Women Who Run with the Wolves” and “Feminine Psychology” because I felt those would be fitting for their show. We lounged around in the living room, casually having those fun introspective conversations that we’ll be hearing on their new podcast, before heading to the kitchen where they sipped on wine and laughed so hard.

Next I pulled out a circle mirror that I knew I would eventually use for some reason and I’m glad we did. It gave us the perfect feeling of looking inward and introspection that we were looking for. I even played around in photoshop to give the effect of looking into a fish bowl. How’d I do?!!

Next up: the market! At this point they were all warmed up and comfy in front of the camera so we were all down to get a lil wacky in the corner store. They picked out their snacks and bevies, plopped themselves down in the middle of the isle and had themselves a good ass time, while I captured their magic.

We ended our afternoon together at Golden Gate Park!

Check out some of my other branding work here and if you want to book a lil sesh for yourself inquire for a photoshoot here. Thanks for being here!!!! <3
